Weigh-in #3

Christine- 191.8 (down 1.8 from last week, 3.6 total)
I fixed the blog background so we can see our green letters better, but Mer you should go make us a COOL background!

Cameron - 216.8 (down 3.4 from last week, 8.2 total)
I'm not sure where my original post went... it vanished.

Eric - 215.0 (down 6.5lb from last week, 11.5 total)

Mer - 175.0 (1 lb loss, 1lb total loss) whatev. I'm SO not trying that hard. I really don't want to lose my milk. But I also feel so awful about how I look. It's so hard to figure out your priorities sometime. But Cohen is more of a priority versus how I look right now.

MoM - I am down 2 lbs, at 183.5 . I confess this is so much harder than I thought it would be for me to figure out what will work. I already don't hardly ever eat bread or cold cereal so I can't cut out those carbs. I think I must need to eat lots of broccoli. That's my next week's goal
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
Eric, you are doing so awesome!!

Thursday Weigh-In #2

Eric - 221.5 (down 5lb from last week) Eh...probably a fluke.

Mer - 176.0 (no change) Maybe I shouldn't have made those homemade oreos.... :)

MoM - so are we weighing in weekly? I thought we only needed to do it in the middle and the end. If not I will weigh in. You have probably guessed this means I am not starting out very well or I would be posting in giant purple numbers my new sleek weight....

Christine- 193.6 (down 1.8 lbs) I am sooooo frustrated! My weight went down the first day then stayed the same ALL WEEK! And I'm being so good! And exercising tons. I think my body's getting tired of losing these same 5 lbs over and over again. Oh, and Cam's right, weigh-ins are on Fridays! (I put up the first post the night before last time)

Cameron- Hi all... Not sure what changed, but now I have that glorious "Edit" button... 220.2 (down 4.8lbs from last week) 30.2 lbs. to go!

evil cinnamon twist

Went home teaching with Dad. I had to eat a cinnamon twist there. It was horrible. really I'm sure it had zero calories since I was on the Lord's errand.

It WILL happen!!!! NEVER FEAR!!!

LEMONY CHICKEN SOUP (Don's favorite!)
1 tsp olive oil
1 sm clove garlic, finely chopped (or just add garlic powder)
6 c chicken stock (Wylers, Tones...)
1 rib celery chopped thin
1 C shredded carrots
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 C Orzo pasta (looks like big rice)
1 C frozen peas
1 1/2 C frozen corn
3 C chopped cooked chicken pulled
from a rotisserie chicken
2 eggs
3-4 T lemon juice (1 large lemon)

1. Heat oil in large pot over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until light brown, about 1 minute. Add stock, celery, carrots, pepper, and salt and bring to a boil over high heat. Add Orzo and reduce heat to a simmer. Cook until Orzo is tender, about 8 minutes.
2. Add veggies and chicken and simmer 2 minutes. Meanwhile, whisk together eggs and 3 T of the lemon juice in medium bowl. Warm egg mixture gently by whisking in about 1 cup hot stock in a thin stream.
3. Whisk egg mixture into soup and warm briefly over low heat 2 minutes. Do NOT boil or eggs will curdle. Adjust seasoning as needed with more lemon juice. salt or pepper and serve.

We loved this when I made it. It's cool to have shredded carrots instead of chopped. and the veggies are really good. It's not necessarily diet soup but I figure if it's mostly a clear soup it counts as good for you. Let me know if you have questions and if you make it! :) Karen

Yesterday I got to do interpreting at the high school! It was a good experience. I worked in a math class which was hard at first to figure out the specific signs for Y axis and X axis and intercept etc but it turned out ok because they only had 1/2 hour of instruction and then took a test. Easy for me! Then in the cooking class I just did explanations and then the students ate left over turkey dinner (yes, I had some!) and then played games. It was a good day for the regular interpreter to be out. A good starting point for me in the 'big leagues'. I don't like the high school too much though. Too many weirdo teenagers.....
But Mrs. Izbell remembered Kimi and Mrs. Burris remembered Eric and the cooking teacher Can't remember her name, remembered Eric too. Hmmmmm. he graduated in 1998. Why would she remember him??? Eric?

I'm a slug.....

OK, so I decided it was time NOW! I NEED to do this diet think for just 8 weeks because that's how long untill I go to Hawaii! But I still cheat on myself! How can I do this? Yummy stuff or just something to snack on will get me. DOn't know if I wll be able to do it even for 8 - no almost just 7 now - weeks. aaarrrrggghhhhh............................................................neraK

It's monday again!

Christine- grades CCABACA, 3.0 average. I need to behave this week! My goal this week is to make sure I exercise every single day.

(March 2) on March 5th

Karen - This week i am down to 181 which is 2 entire pounds from my start weight. Yesssss. But today i ate jr. mints with hersheys plain milk chocolate. It is perfect. sorry for telling you that. And YOU CANNOT GO GET SOME!!!!! I am a sinner. my name is Nerak. But i am down 2 pounds. I really am trying! See that picture of me down there to the right? I am in the pink on the end. That is my present goal. Look at that non- existent giant stomach! Here I come again!!!

Christine- Good job with the posting mom, I keep forgetting. I had a weird week. Stomach flu and recovery. Took me a few days to get back in the exercise groove. My grades this week: BABABAC, 3.2 GPA.
It's so WEIRD not weighing myself! I keep worrying that I'm not losing. But then I realize that if I'm working this hard and not losing much, I would get discouraged and stop trying. And I'm sure that even if I haven't lost a lot by now, I'll start losing soon. So it's good.

Weekly Weigh-IN

February 23 Weigh-In

Karen - Wahoo!!! I'm down 1/2 a pound! E-i-e-i-o!!!! Yes, a blessed 182 .5/ sickening isn't it. I just am not being faithfull . I know. I still snack and I KNOW that is a no-no. Ugh. but I'm still excercising. yea me.

Bonnie-I am finally down from my 220 to 218 BUT I have been going up down so I am not holding my breath to stay here. However comma I did run 1/4 mile for the first time and I plan to do that twice a week now so I am stepping it up. Karen, snacking is not a no-no! It is what you snack on that makes or breaks you.

Christine- Since I'm not weighing myself I decided to give myself a grade every day, and I will post my weekly GPA. So this last week my grades were A F B B A A A, and my GPA is 3.14. I'm sure next week it'll be MUCH better. I hope I'm losing something! I realized that 3 lbs a week doesn't make sense after all, if I lost that much I'd be losing muscle as well as fat. But if I can just do 2 lbs a week for 8 weeks, that would put me at 170, which is my wedding weight!!

Karen - Christine, that is so clever to think of giving yourself a GPA ; I love it! I am afraid I would fail too often but maybe I will try that anyway. Maybe it would help me look at this differently.

Monday Feb. 16

Bonnie: Don't ask!

Christine- I have no idea! I was gettting into a bad cycle of trying hard for a couple days, getting frustrated because the scale didn't reflect my efforts, and losing all my motivation and slacking off. So now I've vowed to stay away from the scale for the next 8 weeks! I'll still come and "weigh in" as to whether I'm sticking to my plan though.

Karen: I am still at 183. But still trying, Hey, I thought I was getting e0-mail updates that Sarah was on here. Isn't she???

Feb. 9 Weigh-In

So I keep forgetting to post even though I did weigh-in on Monday.
Bonbon: No gain, no loss. Last week I did a good job of reducing my sugar intake and of course I'm walking 2 miles most days.

Christine- I went down a pound, then back up. I'm pretty frustrated. It's so hard to keep caring when I eat perfectly and exercise TONS and nothing HAPPENS! Gah!

Let's get started!

Welcome to the Biggest Loser, Rowley style: The Extended Family Version!

Let's post all of our goals on this post (click the little pencil or go to the dashboard and click edit posts) I suggest putting down your goal, how much time you plan to do it in, your plan of action, and what you're going to do with your reward money!

Then from now on every monday we'll do a weigh-in post. Post your weight if you want, or just the change for that week. And you can post whatever else your goal might be (exercise time, etc.)

Just so you know, this blog is pretty private. It's not officially private (like sarah's blog) but it's not in the blog listings and it's not searchable with search engines, so the only way to get here is to know the address.

Feel free to start a new post any time to ask questions, give advice, or just prattle on.

GOALS:

Christine: Get to 160 in 8 weeks, by March 30. Today's weight: 181.2. I plan to eat CRAZY healthy, very little carbs and practically no sweets, tons of produce and protein, and less than 1200 calories per day. Also I'll be exercising twice a day, about 40 minutes in the morning and 50-60 at night. I don't have a plan for my $20 quite yet, but I do plan on going on a huge shopping spree (for clothes of course!) in St. George as soon as the weight is off.

Bonnie: To get below 200. Right now I'm at 220 and I don't play football. I plan to continue walking 2 miles 5 days/week and I will add some isolated exercises too (sit ups, push-ups, etc.). I will begin to lower my sugar intake by having it only once per day for now. I love vegetables and yet I have been delinquent with them. So, a huge jump in veggie intake everyday (4 cups) and no red meat (my fave!).

Karen: OK, here I am. I'm so glad to see that Bonnie has joined us! Welcome! As fo Me, I have been from 173 last summer up to 186 and down to 179.5 last saturday. BUt now the evil scale says 183 again which it has been for a couple of weeks. So I guess I will start at 183. I am exercising regularly at the gym four or five times weekly, walking at least 45 minutes or using the weight training machines. I really like them. they help me feel 'stwong"! I will keep up on this but try to increase it too. I will cut back on the carbs - i love them. And focus on more veggies and fruits and high protiens. My goal is to be at 172 by March 16 because that is when Don and I leave for HAWAII!! I already bought a new swimming suit which I really must not let anyone see me in now (ick) and I can't find my old one. So it's either lose the weight or go naked. We'll just have to seee what happens!

Wednesday

Christine- 171.6 Okay! I'm back down to my previous plateau! This time I will break it! I'm doing very well on my 2 carb thing again. If I could just stick with it I totally think I could meet my goal by thanksgiving. I'm trying to get more core/ab work in. I have 2 different 20 minute ab videos, so my plan is to do one of them twice a week and the other once. Makes a good morning workout.

Monday

christine- 172.0 Phew! I was up to 174.6 yesterday, it was very bad. I'm back on my 2 carb per day plan for this week at least-- hopefully more. I was totally good yesterday and today, eating-wise. Just gotta make sure I keep exercising! I only did one (long) workout yesterday and today it'll just be one again. Tomorrow, two!

MoM~ 176 hmmmm. I'm making SUCH EXCELLENT progress. Well at least I'm not really going up! I went to the gym and did 30 minutes on the bike this morning. And raked pine needles this evening for an hour. I hope to start walking in the afternoon again. need a good book on tape for that.
Meredith, maybe all the exercising you have done is really kicking in and your body is happily adjusting you your excellent eating system.
